overly long and overly repetitive, with gratuitously crude language
I know that some times it can be frustrating to watch a movie where no one is particularly sympathetic. I don't particularly care for The Godfather for this very reason. However, Anderson's movie is so good ad making everyone flawed, human, accessible, that their lack of sympathy is not utterly frightening. I think Anderson might be the greatest young director currently working. See this movie if you haven't yet.
